Restore Strength, Function and Confidence in Your Smile
Crowns, bridges and veneers are different treatments with different purposes. Whether you have a damaged tooth, a gap from a missing tooth or a cosmetic concern, we will assess your smile and explain which options may be appropriate.
Which treatment does what?
Crown — covers and protects a suitable damaged, weakened or heavily restored tooth.
Bridge — replaces one or more missing teeth by using supporting teeth or other appropriate support.
Veneer — a thin restoration placed on the front surface of a suitable tooth, usually to change its appearance.
Dental crowns
A crown is custom-made to fit over a prepared tooth. It may be recommended where a tooth needs additional protection or restoration of its shape, function or appearance. Material choice and suitability should be discussed during assessment.
Dental bridges
A bridge can replace a missing tooth or teeth by spanning the gap and being supported by neighbouring teeth or another appropriate design. We will also explain alternative tooth-replacement options where relevant, including dentures or implants.
Dental veneers
A veneer is a thin restoration bonded to the front of a suitable tooth to change aspects of its appearance. Veneers are not appropriate for every cosmetic concern, so alternatives such as whitening, bonding or alignment may also be discussed.

Not sure which treatment you need?
You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself before booking. Tell us what is bothering you — for example a broken tooth, missing tooth, old restoration or cosmetic concern — and we can assess the cause and explain the appropriate options.
Results & case examples
Use genuine examples for crowns, bridges and veneers if available. Label each case clearly so patients understand which treatment produced the result.
FAQs
How do I know whether I need a crown?
A crown may be recommended when a tooth has been weakened, heavily filled, cracked or damaged, or following certain treatments such as root canal treatment. A crown fits over the existing tooth to help restore its strength, function and appearance. We will examine your tooth and discuss whether a crown is the most suitable option for you.
What is the difference between a bridge and an implant?
Both bridges and dental implants can be used to replace missing teeth, but they work in different ways. A bridge usually replaces a missing tooth by being supported by the neighbouring teeth, while a dental implant is placed into the jawbone and supports a replacement tooth independently.
The best option will depend on factors such as the health of your remaining teeth and gums, the amount of available bone, your general health and your individual preferences. We can talk you through the advantages and considerations of each option.
Are veneers suitable for everyone?
Veneers can be a great option for improving the appearance of certain teeth, but they are not suitable for everyone. The health of your teeth and gums, your bite, the amount of healthy tooth structure available and habits such as teeth grinding can all affect whether veneers are appropriate.
We will assess your teeth carefully and discuss all suitable options with you before recommending treatment.
How long can crowns and bridges last?
Crowns and bridges are designed to be long-lasting restorations, but their lifespan varies from person to person. How long they last can depend on your oral hygiene, diet, bite, habits such as grinding or clenching, and how regularly you attend dental check-ups.
Looking after your restoration with good brushing, cleaning between the teeth and regular dental and hygiene appointments can help keep it in good condition for as long as possible.
What materials are used?
Crowns, bridges and veneers can be made from a variety of dental materials, including ceramics such as porcelain and zirconia.
The most appropriate material will depend on factors such as where the tooth is located, the strength required, your bite and the appearance you would like to achieve.
Will my restoration look natural?
Our aim is to create a restoration that blends naturally with your smile. Factors such as the colour, shape and size of your surrounding teeth are taken into consideration when planning crowns, bridges and veneers.
Modern dental materials can provide very natural-looking results, and we will discuss the appearance of your restoration with you as part of your treatment planning.
