Conscious Sedation at Tara Martin Dental Care
At Tara Martin Dental Care, we understand that visiting the dentist can be a source of anxiety or stress for many people. That’s why we offer conscious sedation—a safe and effective way to help you feel calm, relaxed, and comfortable during your dental treatment.
Whether you’re nervous about a specific procedure, have a strong gag reflex, or simply feel anxious about dental visits in general, conscious sedation allows you to receive the care you need in a much more comfortable way.
What is Conscious Sedation?
Conscious sedation is a form of mild to moderate sedation where you remain awake and responsive, but deeply relaxed and at ease. It’s commonly administered via intravenous (IV) sedation, which works quickly and can be precisely controlled during your treatment.
You’ll still be able to respond to our team and breathe on your own, but you may feel drowsy and won’t remember much about the procedure afterward—a huge relief for many patients!
Who is Conscious Sedation For?
Conscious sedation is ideal for patients who:
- Experience dental anxiety or phobia
- Have a strong gag reflex
- Require multiple or complex procedures in one visit
- Struggle to stay still for long periods
- Have had traumatic dental experiences in the past
Before your appointment, we’ll carry out a full assessment to ensure conscious sedation is safe and appropriate for you.
Benefits of Conscious Sedation
- Helps you feel calm and anxiety-free
- Reduces fear and discomfort
- Makes long or complex treatments feel shorter
- Often results in little to no memory of the procedure
- Safe, controlled, and monitored throughout
Your safety is our top priority. During sedation, your vital signs are closely monitored at all times by trained professionals, and you’ll be looked after with the highest standard of care before, during, and after your procedure.
